Guardcoat™ EC can provide a clear or coloured protective coating on mechanical or plated substrate finishes such as aluminium, brass, bronze, copper, nickel, silver, gold, zinc and other metal finishes. Conventional lacquers are dipped or sprayed, whereas Guardcoat™ EC is deposited cathodically in a cleaning process or final process. The advantage of the cathodic coating is that it will not attack or discolour the finish. Furthermore, it will not be necessary to rerack or double handle items for deposition or curing. Other advantages of this coating are; the amount of precious metal can be reduced without sacrifing corrosion and wear resistance while maintaining the beauty and integrity of the original finish. The coating adds durability to the product with a pencil hardness of 4H + after curing. The parts can be uniformerly coated without bare spots, runs or tear drops.
