Hydrofluoric Acid 49% is used mainly in industrial applications; for glass etching, metal cleaning, microchip etching, electronic circuit cleaners, plastic production, production and purification of radioactive materials, and home rust removers. It is also used in chemical blends for stripping cadmium from various metal substrates, polishing superconducting radio frequency cavities to remove impurities and decrease surface roughness, and as a buffered chemical polish with current as electropolishing process.
